Description:

In this session, author and educator, Janyne McConnaughey, Ph.D. will address the needs of educators and parents through the lens of her adult life which was deeply affected by developmental trauma. Drawing from her latest book, she will explain how coping mechanisms she built as a child presented both challenges and strengths while teaching, collaborating with school administration and staff, interacting as a parent, and while training future teachers. Topics will include living with/healing developmental trauma, hope and realistic expectations, compassionate self-care, unconditional regard for self and others, the importance of humor, and the value and pitfalls of vulnerability.
